2021 Fair Updates

Fair Book Update #1 – Revised March 25, 2021

  1. The May 1st project tagging and forms deadline has been extended to Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. We will be accepting forms as follows:
  • At the Fairgrounds – A drop box will be provided at the “Main Gate Ticket Booth”. The drop box will be available from Friday, May 14, 2021 to Saturday, May 15, 2021.
  • By mail – Must be received by May 15, 2021. Postmarks will not be accepted. Address for mailing is Van Buren Youth Fair, P.O. Box 271, Hartford, MI 49057.
  • By email – Email address is vanburenyouthfair@gmail.com.
  1. Livestock Ownership forms for tags must be sent to Bev Rajzer – email address is blrajzer@hotmail.com.
  1. The date for the mandatory goat tag verification has been extended to Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Fairgrounds from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  1. Swine RFID tag numbers must be submitted no later than June 15, 2021 with your fair entry form.

Fair Book Update #2 – Revised March 29, 2021

  1. The following guidelines were developed and approved by the Van Buren Youth
    Fair Association’s Board of Directors on Monday, March 29, 2021. The guidelines are for implementing the policy approved in 2020 and continues in 2021 as approved on Thursday, March 25, 2021 as follows:

Policy: The Van Buren Youth Fair Association’s Board of Directors reserves the right to limit the

number of open class exhibitors at the 2021 Van Buren Youth Fair. Priority will be given

to in-county exhibitors and those exhibitors who participated in both the 2018 and 2019

Van Buren Youth Fair.”

 

Guidelines:

  1. Clarification of “In-County” exhibitor

    • Current residents of Van Buren County

    • Current membership in a Van Buren County 4-H Club for the 2020-2021 membership year as of midnight on April 1, 2021. There could be two categories:

      1. Enrolled and approved.

      2. Enrolled with pending approval.

  1. Clarification of exhibitors participating in the 2018 and 2019 Van Buren Youth Fairs.

    • Exhibitors who participated in the 2018 and 2019 Van Buren Youth Fairs.

    • First time exhibitors in the immediate family of an exhibitor who participated in the 2018 and 2019 Van Buren Youth Fairs.

    • Exhibitors who participated in the 2019 Van Buren Youth Fair as a first time exhibitor.

If the number of exhibitors registering and tagging exhibits for the 2021 Van Buren Youth Fair by the extended May 15, 2021 deadline exceeds the capacity of the facilities at the Van Buren Youth Fair Grounds, The Board of Directors will limit the number of exhibitors for the affected areas. The elimination of the exhibitors will be based on the following criteria:

  1. All exhibitors who submitted May 1st forms, registrations and/or tagged their animals by midnight on April 1, 2021 will be eligible for the 2021 Fair.

  2. All in-county exhibitors will be eligible for the 2021 Fair.
  3. All Exhibitors who participated in the 2018 and 2019 Fairs will be eligible for the 2021 Fair.

  4. All exhibitors not included in items 1, 2 and 3 will be eligible based on a first come/first serve basis:

    1. Emailed forms will be considered by date and time of email.
    2. Mailed forms will be considered by postmarked date. (All mailed forms must be received by May 15, 2021.)

    3. Tagged exhibits will be considered by date and time of tag registration.

    4. Drop Box – Forms will be collected at specific times on May 14 and 15, 2021 Eligibility will be considered based on the date and time recorded on the forms by a Fair Director.

All exhibitors in all categories must have fulfilled all requirements to exhibit at the Van Buren Youth Fair in accordance with the 2021 Van Buren Youth Fair Book.
